Mr. Hugh Mosley Roberts, 97 years old of Scottsboro, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Highlands Health and Rehab.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2026 in the chapel of Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. David Moorman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Monday beginning at 9 a.m.

Mr. Roberts was born in Pisgah, Alabama to Hugh Verdie Roberts and Minnie Mae Jones Roberts, who predeceased him.

Hugh was married to Adena Grider Roberts for 48 years. He is also predeceased by his son, Terry E. Roberts; daughter-in-law, Linda Roberts; great grandson, Holden Beck; and son-in-law, Larry Johnson.

He is survived by daughters, Lynda R. Johnson, Nelda R. Gilbert (Philip), and Anita R. Jarrell (David); sons, Alvie Roberts and James Roberts. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Hugh worked for Burlington Industries, Revere Copper and Brass, and Norandal. He was an avid beekeeper. He also loved to garden, crochet, and play the piano. He attended Center Point Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and played the piano for various choirs, quartets, and churches throughout Jackson County.

The family is thankful to God for the gift of his long life and for the love and strength he showed as an example to us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Jackson County or to any charitable organization in his memory.
