Hugh Alton Luna, Sr., 83, a lifelong resident of Huntsville, passed away Sunday after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was a retired Fire Chief of the Huntsville Fire Department, and a member of Chase Park Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel F. and Clella Luna; brothers, Cleveland Luna, Howard Luna and Elmer “Bubba” Luna; and sisters, Annie Lou Turner, Barbara Jean Thompson, and Mary Sue Nance.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gabie P. Luna; children, Teresa Congo (Richard), Deborah Christopher (Tommy), Hugh A. Luna, Jr., and Angela “Penny” Faulkner (Dennis); brother, Jimmy D. Luna; sisters, Connie Hendrixson and Janie F. Kilpatrick; grandchildren, Jennifer Flohr (Daniel), Richard Congo, Jr., Jessica Faulkner, and Jason Faulkner; and great-grandchildren, Ferris Flohr and Scarlett Claire Flohr.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maple Hill Cemetery with John Denney officiating
