hughHugh Alton Luna, Sr., 83, a lifelong resident of Huntsville, passed away Sunday after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was a retired Fire Chief of the Huntsville Fire Department, and a member of Chase Park Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel F. and Clella Luna; brothers, Cleveland Luna, Howard Luna and Elmer “Bubba” Luna; and sisters, Annie Lou Turner, Barbara Jean Thompson, and Mary Sue Nance.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gabie P. Luna; children, Teresa Congo (Richard), Deborah Christopher (Tommy), Hugh A. Luna, Jr., and Angela “Penny” Faulkner (Dennis); brother, Jimmy D. Luna; sisters, Connie Hendrixson and Janie F. Kilpatrick; grandchildren, Jennifer Flohr (Daniel), Richard Congo, Jr., Jessica Faulkner, and Jason Faulkner; and great-grandchildren, Ferris Flohr and Scarlett Claire Flohr.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maple Hill Cemetery with John Denney officiating

The family would like to thank Hospice Family Care and Dr. Chris Russell and staff.

Memorials may be made to Chase Park Church of Christ Building Fund.
