Mr. Hubert C. “Hooter” Carroll Hinds, Jr, age 78, of Arab, Alabama passed away at Huntsville Hospital on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Mr. Hinds was born December 14, 1944 to Hubert Carroll Hinds, Sr. and Charlsie Ozell Edmondson Hinds in Blount County, AL. He was married to Norma Jean Smith Hinds, who passed away in 2016. Hooter worked at Hinds Salvage as Head Foreman. He was a Christian and served as an elder at Summit Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many decades.
Hooter was a man with a variety of interests. He spent leisure time hanging out with his many friends and riding around with his dog, Lady, as passenger. He enjoyed working on his lawn and tinkering on his vehicles. He had a quit wit and could come up with a comeback faster than most people would think. He was always prepared for a joke. His pride and joy in the last year had been becoming a PawPaw.
Family members left behind to cherish memories of Hooter are his daughter, Heather Hinds Pierce (Ben); grand-daughter, Maddie Jean Pierce; sister-in-law, Jo Smith Martin; nieces, Deborah Hinds and Jennifer Shuler; nephews, Carroll Joe Hinds and Bradley Martin.
Preceding Hooter in death is his wife, Norma Jean Smith Hinds, parents, Hubert and Charlsie Hinds; and brother, Joe Hinds.
A visitation and funeral service, officiated by Curtis McAllister, Sr. will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab. The visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. The funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Arab Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bradley Martin, Carroll Joe Hinds, Chris Flack, Keith Flack, Shannon Mason and Danny Holloway.
