Hoyt Wayne Berry, age 79, of Russellville, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Russellville Hospital.
Hoyt proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army. He was a devoted husband to Jean, the best daddy to Tammy and Christi, and the best Pa to Gavin. Hoyt was a devout Christian, an ordained deacon, and a man of strong faith. He was a die hard Alabama fan, who never met a stranger, and will be remembered for his strength, as caring, loyal, brave, a comforter, and for the special love he had for everyone.
Hoyt now knows with absolute clarity what we sing about, pray for, and vaguely understand. Such a loss for his family and friends, but we know there is rejoicing in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Berry; parents, James William Berry, Sr. and Christine Baker Berry (fondly known as “Momma Berry”); brothers, James William Berry Jr., Donald “Donnie” (wife, Janice) Berry; and sisters, Wanda Hacker, Sheila Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Gloria Jean Berry; daughter, Christi Berry; grandson, Gavin McDaniel; sister, Linda Sockwell (Wayne), brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Berry (Jean), four-legged friend and companion, Marni; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 05, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 06, 2023 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Dewayne Crumley officiating the service. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with military honors.
