Hoyt Glenn McCafferty – Obituary

Hoyt Glenn McCafferty, 85, of Rogersville died Monday, February 4, 2013, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Elkins East Chapel 12:30-2 PM.  Funeral services will be at 2 PM in the Chapel with Bro. Andy Erwin officiating.  Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery in Lexington.

Mr. McCafferty served in the US Navy and was a Korean Conflict veteran.  He retired from TVA.  He was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.  He loved fishing and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dessie McCafferty; sister, Elizabeth Shelton.

Hoyt is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Imerdean “Dean” McCafferty; sons, Roger McCafferty (Jean) and Jerry McCafferty (Barbara); sisters, Janise Newborn (George), Betty Hammond, and Theora Slatton; brother, Eroy McCafferty; three grandchildren, Kim Mitchell (Andy), Jason McCafferty (Amy), and Kyle McCafferty (Jessica); four great-grandchildren, Dallas Mitchell, Caroline Mitchell, Adam McCafferty, and Morgan McCafferty; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason McCafferty, Kyle McCafferty, Harold Davis, Roger Shelton, Kenneth Davis, and Mark Slatton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Tidwell and Mike Burgess.

Hoyt will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to express their thanks to Mitchell-Hollingsworth station 3 and Hospice of the Shoals.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart Association or to Alzheimers.
