Services for Hoyt Earl Williamson, Sr. will be Wednesday, Nov. 16th at 3 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel. Visitation to be held from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. with interment in Roselawn Cemetery.
Hoyt was born to Hoyt Williamson and India Ella Earl Fulks on Sept. 13, 1931 and went to be with the Lord on Nov. 12, 2016. Hoyt grew up in Belle Mina and graduated from Athens High School. He then served his country in Korea with the National Guard unit from Athens. Upon returning, he finished his education by receiving a bachelor of science degree from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn).
During this time, he married the former Helen Leonard. Upon returning from college he built a home in the Tanner community. A man of many talents, Hoyt at various times worked for the Linde Company, raised chickens and cattle, row crop farmed, and was a machinist. He also reared three sons during this time.
In his golden years he married the former Anna Mary Johnson and became a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, an infant daughter, Susan Claire, and wife, Helen.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Hoyt (Buster) Earl Williamson Jr. (Celia), James (Jim) Ashley Williamson (Dana), Scott Thomas Williamson, and stepdaughter, Lawana Griffin (Dean); grandchildren Ben, Brian, Jim, Andy (Jennifer), John, Alex, Philip, Camryn and Jakob; stepgrandchildren, Emily (Will), Gray (Cassie) and Allie; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Susan Bateman and brother-in-law, Ewell Russell.
