Howl-Oween Pet Costume Contest and Parade

BulldogFLORENCE– Don’t be surprised if you see lions, tigers and bears…oh my… parading around Wilson Park on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Nothing from the zoo escaped, they are the dogs, cats and exotic animals participating in the Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest and Parade.

Local pet parents are invited to bring their beloved pet family member dressed in their cutest, scariest, most creative Halloween costume for the contest and parade.  The event is sponsored by local philanthropic organization Gamma Phi as a fund raiser for the Heart of Alabama Save Rescue Adopt non-profit group that supports catthe local animal shelter.

An entry fee is $10 per pet.  Judging will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon and parade begins at 12:30.  Prizes will be awarded at 12 noon for the following categories:

  • Best dog costume
  • Best cat costume
  • Best exotic pet costume
  • Scariest pet Costume
  • Most creative/homemade costume
  • Best owner-pet combo costumes

cat and dogPets may participate in only the parade with a donation of a bag of dog food, cat food or cat litter to the Florence Animal Shelter. Animals must be accompanied by a responsible adult at birdall times for safety for you and your pet.

Heart of Alabama Save Rescue Adopt is a 501c3 non profit organization that works in conjunction with the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter and all donations will be used for the animals at the shelter.
