Howard Wayne “Pops” Davis – Obituary

Howard Wayne “Pops” Davis, age 78, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Pops was born on December 26, 1938, in Lawrence County, Tennessee to Clifford and Pearlie Davis. He married Wanda Goad on July 18, 1959, and they had 57 wonderful years together. Pops was an electrical instrumentation supervisor at Union Carbide, retiring after many years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Racing at Thunder Hill and fishing were two of his favorite hobbies.

Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife: Wanda Davis of Mt. Pleasant; children: Michael (Debbie) Davis of Culleoka, Warren (Vivian) Davis of Columbia, Rusty (Christy) Davis of Summertown, Sharon (Jim) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant and granddaughter, Jennie (Jason) White of Summertown, whom he raised as a daughter; daughter-in-law: Beverly Baldwin Davis; siblings: Bradford (Linda) Davis of Lawrenceburg, Joan (Dan) Goodman of Mt. Pleasant and John T. (Norma) Davis of Lexington, AL; 11 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clifford and Pearlie Davis; step-father: Sharp Springer; and son: Steven W. Davis.

Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Bob Mullenix officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Pops’ grandsons: Allen Davis, Cody Davis, Wesley Johnson, Bo Davis, Trevor Valentine, Zac Green, Wesley Farmer and Derek Owens will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Garry Gobbell, Duane Allen, employees of Pugmill Systems, Carol Hay, the morning coffee crew at By-Pass Market, Dr. Charles Ball and Dr. Dan Skarzynski.
