Mr. Howard Nye of Athens passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the age of 83. He was born in Limestone County on August 27, 1932 to James Levi Nye and Bessie Bowers Nye.
Services will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 7:00PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Donald Terry officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 5:00PM until 6:45PM at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:00AM at Reunion Cemetery and burial will follow.
Howard is survived by two sons: Woody Nye and Mark Nye (Candy) both of Athens, Alabama, one sister: Zena Mae Boritziski of Mooresville, Indiana. He is also survived by three grandchildren: April Prater, Bethany Reed and Cameron Nye all of Athens, Alabama, and four great grandchildren: Camdyn Prater, Presley Prater, Atticus Nye and Oakley Reed.
He was a Korean war veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Truth Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans.
Pallbearers will be Paul Nye, Mark Nye, Lawrence Nye, Edwin Skinner, Danny Roberson, John Prater, Irvin Skinner and Cameron Nye.
