Funeral service for Howard Land Hendrix, age 83, of Decatur, will be Monday, February 7, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Beltline Church of Christ, officiated by his son, grandsons, and Steve Smith, and directed by Shelton Funeral Home. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hendrix, who died Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at his residence, was born October 30, 1938, in Russellville to James Harrison Hendrix and Theo Hamilton Hendrix. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Arma Jean Turbyfill Hendrix, his parents, five brothers, and one sister. Mr. Hendrix retired from Amoco Chemicals following more than 20 years of service.
He is survived by one son, Howard L. Hendrix, Jr. (Victoria) of Calera; one daughter, Kimberly Humphries of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Chris Humphries (Megan) of Birmingham, Cole Humphries (Christyn) of Ashville, NC, Cara Townsend (Jackson) of Florence, Nicole Herman (Josh) of Los Angeles, CA, Shelby Hendrix of Calera, Whitney Hendrix of Atlanta, GA, and Skyler Hendrix of St. Louis, MO; two great-grandchildren, Henry Humphries of Birmingham and Ezekiel Herman of Los Angeles, CA; and the best caregiver in the entire world, Doria Thomas of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
