Howard H. Mercer Howard H. Mercer, age 75 of Cowan, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems in Winchester. He was born on April 15, 1945 in Maloy, Iowa to the late Ervin B. and Lola Judy (Rusco) Mercer. Howard retired from Henley Supply, where he was a sales coordinator, after thirty years of service. He enjoyed listening to classic country music, playing cards, shooting pool, and singing karaoke. Howard was known as the “welcome wagon” for his fun and outgoing personality. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Goldie and Catherine; brothers, Ray, Raymond, Ralph, R.C., Rexel, Junior, and Marvin; and granddaughter, Brianne Wilbanks. Howard is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Annette Mercer of Cowan; sons, Wade (Deb) Mercer of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kevin Wilbanks of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Lydia (Andy) Gillespie of Spring Hill, Wade (Sarah) Mercer Jr of Des Moines, Iowa, and Connor Wilbanks of Huntsville, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Collin Schrimsher, Gabe Mercer, Austin Mercer, Serenity Mercer, and Hudson Gillespie; brother, Eugene (Joyce) Mercer of Gladbrook, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Todd Coutta officiating. Interment will be at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery with Eddie Custer, Price Tucker, William Brown, Bobby Tucker, Barney O’Keefe and Johnny Hunter serving as pallbearers.
