Funeral Services for Mr. Houston Mitchell, age 75 of Lineville, will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Terry Moore officiating. Burial will take place at Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at his home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, he worked for the Clay County Stock Yard from the time it opened in 1992, until he retired a few years ago. He also worked at Mathew’s Meat Market for 45 years and was a logger. Houston loved his cows and farming, as well as his trucks and tractors. He was easy going and a loving husband, deddy and pawpaw. Houston’s family was his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Moore Mitchell of Lineville, his daughter, Melinda Mitchell Parsons (Danny) of Ashland, three sons: Johnny, Bruce and Shane Mitchell, all of Lineville, six grandchildren: Tasha Hallman (Tim), Jordon Johnny Mitchell, Jamie Mitchell, Brittany Mitchell (fiancé Michael Baker), Jennifer Mitchell and Shannon Suggs (Cody), 12 great-grandchildren: Payton, Alexis, and Crimson Hallman, Wendi and Teddy Wayne Mitchell, Sawyer and Waylon Holcombe, Brantley Jones, Mason Suggs, Gracie Mitchell, Madison Suggs and Everleigh Baker, three sisters: Mary Alice Moore (Jerry) of Lineville, Cora Lee Grogan of Goodwater and Geraldine Williams (James) of Lineville, and a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Louise Mitchell, his granddaughter, Wendy Renee Mitchell, and five brothers: Sparky, Paul, Lewis, Kenneth, and Phillip Mitchell.
Active Pallbearers will be: Howard, Jewell, Steve, Phillip, Michael and Glenn Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jerry and David Moore.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from
5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and up until service time on Wednesday.
