Homer A. Black, age 81, formerly of Tuscumbia died Wednesday, April 6, 2016.
His family will receive friends Saturday, 12-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Ed White officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Homer was a Colbert County native and a member of Valdosta Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and elder. He was retired from the U. S. Navy with over twenty years of service and was employed with the Foundry of the Shoals for over twenty years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Ollie Mae Black; his siblings, Margaret Black, Thomas Black, Alvin Black, Beatrice Pardue, Lula Taylor and Helen Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Alice Black; daughter, Kendra Black Cook (Jason); sister, Shirley Owens (Vernon); grandchildren, Quinn Cook, Pierce Cook and Lucca Cook.
Pallbearers are Tim Mitchell, Roy Coburn, Larry Williams, Jimmy Malone, Matt Johnson, Kevin Williams and Kenny Wilson.
Honorary Pallbearer is Craig Conley.
