Holly Dowdy, age 74, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 10, 1951, to Berry Jackson Tedford and Thelma Marie “Jo” Prater Tedford. Holly and Terry owned and operated Dowdy’s One Stop in Ecru for many years. She was a Christian who loved to spend time cooking and preparing for large family gatherings, playing cards, going on wagon rides, and doing yard work and gardening. Her greatest joy was when her home was filled with her children’s friends and her family.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc. Browning Funeral Home is honored to assist the Dowdy family with the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Dowdy, a daughter, Tracy Crawford (Rick), sons, Adam Dowdy (Brittney), Sam Self (Amanda) and Jerry Washington (Noel), two sisters, Pauline Leyland and Krystal Evans, two brothers, Neal Tedford and Mark Tedford, seven grandchildren, Ben Dowdy, Anna Catherine Crawford, Jackson Crawford, Chloe Crawford, A.J. Dowdy, Emma Belue, Treston Belue, Isaac Self, Reid Self, Olivia Washington, Reese Washington, Jake Washington, Maddie Washington and Katie Washington, and one great-grandchild, Crew Dowdy, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Sherry Collins and Mary Tedford, and two brothers, Jack Tedford and Lee Tedford.
Pallbearers will be Sam Self, Jerry Washington, Bradley Barton, Auston Evans, Jackson Crawford, and Matt Collins.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 P.M., Saturday at the funeral home.
