ATHENS-Athens is ready to share the Holiday Season with you here are just some of the upcoming events in Athens in December:
Sippin’ Cider
Saturday, Dec. 8, from 5-8 p.m. in Downtown Athens
Merchants will have cider concoctions for you to try as they compete for who has the best recipe. There will be live music, an art craft for kids, marshmallow roast, etc. This is hosted by Athens Main Street.
Athens Bible School Grand Opening
Sunday, Dec. 9, 2 p.m. at the new school on U.S. 31.

Athens Senior Center 45th Birthday
Tuesday, Dec. 11, noon, at the Athens Senior Center on Pryor Street
Refreshments will be provided to celebrate this milestone.
Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park Committee Tree Lighting and Gift Give-Away
Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m., at Lincoln-Bridgeforth pavilion on Westview Avenue off Hine Street
About 150 children recommended by the Boys and Girls Club and community will receive a gift for Christmas, and there will be a drawing to give away about 20 bicycles. The park tree will be lit, and there will be refreshments. This event is supported by the committee, City of Athens, East Limestone Band and Garden Club.
Shop With A Firefighter
Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. at Walmart
Athens Fire and Rescue Auxiliary sponsors children recommended by counselors from the city and county schools. Children get $100 to spend on necessities and toys.
