Hobart Earl Cathey Hobart Earl Cathey, 72, passed very peacefully to be with Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He had been living in his new home that Allen and Tennille built for him and was happy to be in Texas with them.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.

Earl Cathey was born on July 3, 1948 to be the loving son of the late Hal B. Cathey and Nell Goodman. Earl come to marry and be the loving husband of the late MaryJane Hyle Cathey on June 22, 1967. He has a son Allen Hyle Cathey married to Tennille Jeannette Cathey.  Earl was baptized in the creek in front of Cathey’s Creek Church of Christ. Earl love to work on the farm and take care of the cows. He worked for Monsanto in his early years and Saturn where he retired from.

In addition to his son and daughter-in-law, Earl is survived by his brother, Mumford Frank Cathey, married to Wanda Gail Blocker Cathey, sister, Shirley Cathey Boshers, married to Randy Boshers, brother-in-law, Robert Blaine Hyle II, Aunt, Tennie Chaffin, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, MaryJane Cathey and grandson, Chase Logan Cathey.

Pallbearers will be Luke Jones, John Paul Jones, Billy Winn, Blaine Hyle, Eli Hyle, and David Bridgeforth. Honorary pallbearers are Timmy Flowers, David Harvell (Cobb), Darrell Potts, Pat Hickman and the Cathey’s Creek Church of Christ.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Brookdale Assisted living for the exceptional care that was given to Earl during his stay.
