Hit-And-Run Takes Life Of One Person In Athens

ATHENS-On Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:15 pm, officers of the Athens Police Department responded to the area of US 72 East and Old Decatur Road (area of Walmart).  It had been reported that a person had been struck by a vehicle.  Officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel located a deceased male in the roadway.

The vehicle had immediately fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency workers.  We are asking for the public’s help with any information regarding this crash.  There will be moderate to heavy damage to the vehicle’s front end, including the windshield.
