HUNTSVILLE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian has taken the life of one person. The person driving the vehicle also left the scene of the accident:
“A single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 1:05 a.m. Monday, April 7, has claimed the life of a New Market man.
The pedestrian, Jeremy D. Dempsey, 39, was fatally injured when he was struck by a 2013 Infinity G37 that left the scene of the crash. Dempsey was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Infinity, Grant A. Beverly, 18, of Huntsville, was later located and arrested by Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division.
Beverly was charged with Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident and was booked into the Madison County Jail.
The crash occurred on Winchester Road near County Lake Road, approximately four miles north of Huntsville, in Madison County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
