The Funeral service for Hilma Marie Gray Plyler, 80, of Florence will be 2 PM, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Greenview Funeral Home. The visitation will be Monday, September 25, 2023, from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Rev. A Ray Blankenship will officiate the service. The interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Plyler was born March 17, 1943 to Henry Meadows & Hilda Marie Hakola Gray. She passed from this life on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville. She held a BA Degree in Business Education. Mrs. Plyler retired from TVA and U.S. Army (Civil Servant). She was a member of the America Association of University Women, Professional Secretaries International and active in UNA Alumni Association. She was a proud, lifelong Methodist and a retired teacher from the Lauderdale County School System.
Mrs. Plyler was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Meadows & Hilda Marie Gray.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Plyler; son, Mark (Betsi) Plyler; daughters, Marsha (Greg) Blankenship, Paige (Ashley) Stephens, Pamela Plyler; brother-in-law, Tim (Peggy) Plyler; grandchildren, Johnathon (Tayler) Blankenship, Alex (Adora) Blankenship, William Blankenship, Alton (Caroline) Stephens, Henry (Alyssa) Stephens. Charlie Stephens, Grayson Caroline Plyler; great grandchildren, Blair Blankenship, Allie Blankenship (due January 2024); and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
The grandchildren will serve as their Nonny’s pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Martha Whitt, Georgia Osborne supporting and loving friends for her lifetime.
