Hilda S. Neal – Obituary

Hilda S. Neal passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Glenwood Rehab Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amer Neal who retired after many years of service in the U.S. Navy. She was also preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Betty Spurgeon.

Mrs. Neal is survived by her only nephew, Steven Douglas Spurgeon and wife, Susan. Mrs. Neal had a great-niece, Jennifer Hogue, and a great-nephew, Steven Spurgeon. She was blessed have five great-great-nephews and nieces, Dylan, Ashlyn, Tyler, Grace, and Bekah, and a great-great-great-nephew and niece, Atlas and Kenzi. Mrs. Neal leaves behind many friends and family that loved her dearly.

She was originally from Houston, Mississippi but had lived in Florence for the past 30 years. Mrs. Neal was a member and also past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered for numerous organizations. Mrs. Neal was a member of Killen Methodist Church and a member of the Killen Senior Citizen’s Ceneter.

She was a very selfless person all of her life and made every person smile that had the pleasure of meeting her. Hilda Neal was so special to her family and will be missed daily.

A memorial service for Mrs. Neal will be Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Killen Senior Center.
