Hilda McIntyre Darby died Thursday, July 17, 2015. She was born February 3rd, 1928 to Fred Olin McIntyre Sr. and Della Dewberry McIntyre, who preceded her in death. A graduate of Central High School class of 1947 and the Larimore School of Business, Mrs. Darby worked for many years in the Lauderdale County, Probate Judge’s office where she met many lifelong friends. She was a member of the Glendale Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Phillip Darby; one sister, Faye McIntyre Abramson and her husband David Abramson; two sisters in law, Dot Darby Hairrell of Memphis, Tennessee, Faye Darby Smith and her husband, Hal, of Lake Mary, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine McIntyre Higgins and Marguerite McIntyre Whitfield; two brothers, Fred Olin McIntyre Jr. and William H. McIntyre.
She enjoyed playing Rook with her friends and quilting with the Central Community Center Quilters every week. She also spent time volunteering with the Central Community Center and R.S.V.P. She was very active in the Central community all her life.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Greenview Funeral Home at 3657 Old Chisholm Road in Florence on Monday, July 20th from 11-1:00 p.m. with a service to follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Carl Seigenthaler and Rev. Jerry Hastings officiating. She will be buried at Greenview Memorial Park immediately following the service.
