Ira Kneeland Hibbett – Back In Jail

BALDWIN COUNTY – The former CEO of a large Shoals corporation is back in jail down in Baldwin County; charged by authorities for allegedly violating the conditions of his house arrest. Ira Neiland Hibbett, husband of Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk Melissa Homan Hibbett was originally arrested back in April of this year on charges related to soliciting a minor for sexual activities.

Hibbett, who was originally released on a cash bond after his initial arrest, was subsequently re-arrested a few days later for allegedly contacting a 12 year old daughter of his in violation of the bond conditions. He was subsequently released into a halfway home in Montgomery while awaiting trial on the charges, which are felonies. According to Court papers, Hibbett was staying at the Grand Hotel near Fairhope on April 19 when he allegedly handed a girl under the age of 16 a note written on a napkin. “Hello I’m Kneeland Room 3118”. It also listed his cell phone number and said, “I am alone. Have fun. : )”

The arrest that happened last Thursday, stemmed from a Court order after a motion was filed by the Baldwin County District Attorney. The cause of action for the bond revocation stated that on May 27, Hibbett told authorities that he had to travel back to Lauderdale County to meet with several doctors, citing work as the purpose for those meetings. Hibbett is a partner in Hibbett Patient Care, a compounding pharmacy in Florence.

“Defendant gave Deputy Stottlemire with BCCC a list of names, addresses and appointment times for these business meetings,” the motion reads. “However, defendant was seen at approximately 12 p.m. on that date at a shared marital residential property in Florence, Alabama, with a moving truck. Defendant told an officer on scene that he was moving into the residence and subsequently had the locks changed.”

His children live with their mother, Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk Melissa Homan Hibbett, who has filed Court papers for divorce.

According to reports, the doctors that Hibbett said he was to meet with had no knowledge of any scheduled meeting.

Hibbett will remain in jail until his trial unless the Court once again releases him prior to that time.

Here are the redacted arrest reports for the original incident:
