Hershell Dale Ray, 47, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Tishomingo County, Ms. He was born in Georgia and was a factory worker. He was a member of Palestine Church and taught Wednesday night Bible class.
Services will be Saturday, October 7, 1 p.m. at Palestine Church, Paden, Ms. with Bro. Danny Young officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery, Paden, Ms. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Ms. will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by a son – Jeremy Ray of Iuka, Ms. and his mother, Anita Rogers; two step-daughters – Erica Hanson and Akeisha Hanson; an uncle – Tom Ray (Barbara) Champaign, Il.; sisters – Marribell Bruun (Berry) El Paso, Tx., Cindy Skinner (Jeff) Fulton, Ms. and Vicky White (Jerald) of Tn.; brothers – Robert Ray, Jr. (Rebeca) Red Bay, Al., Kenneth Simmons (Irene) and Gerald Simmons, all of Fairview, Ms., Robert Simmons (Mary) and Marshall Simmons, all of Golden, Ms. and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, SMSGT Robert Ray, Sr., mother, Shirley Ray Walden; two brothers, Ricky Simmons and Jackie Simmons, a sister, Beverly Hicks and a nephew, Robert Ray III.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ray, Robert Ray, Jr., Robert Simmons, Marshall Simmons, Andrew Ray and Randy Mock.
Visitation will be Friday, October 6, beginning at 6 p.m. until service time on Saturday at Palestine Church.
