Hershel Fleming, 81, of Russellville, AL passed away at his home on December 22, 2013.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Akins Funeral Home from 12 to 2 p.m.. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Daryl Whitehead and Bo Weeks officiating Burial will follow in East Franklin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Harris, Gabriel Fleming, Malachy Fleming, Terry Zills, Chris Speck, and Gary Harris.
Mr. Fleming served in the US Army during Korean War. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Company. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 1209 & Alabama Cattlemens Association. He was a very hard worker who could fix almost anything. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on his farm. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He attended church at Pleasant Hill FCM Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ella Fleming; Siblings, Joe W. Fleming, Lener V. Fleming, Dessie Pace, Amazona Vandiver, Eliza Potter, Katherine Scaiffe, Mattie Leen McElroy, Wiley Fleming, Franklin Fleming, Orman Fleming, Charlie Swims, George Swims, Cephus Swims, Junior Cooper, and Willie Cooper
He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Marvolene Pierce Fleming; children, Wade Fleming, Mike Fleming and Phoebe, Tammy Harris; grandchildren, Talia Speck and Chris, Tasha Harris Zills and Terry, Tyler Harris, Gabriel Fleming, Hannah Kaye Fleming, Kacie Fleming, Malachy Fleming; great grandchildren, Kaitlin Speck, Tanner Zills, and Anne Tyler Zills,
The family would like to give special recognition to Gentiva Hospice and Nurses Kim Gaisser and Monica Lynch.
