A private family funeral service for Herman Ellis Thompson, 84, of Battleground will be at 2 p.m., Monday, January 4th, 2021 at Blair Congregational Methodist Church with interment in the adjoining cemetery, Rev.Tim Holder officiating. A private family visitation will be from 1-2 at the church prior to the service.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Thompson passed away Thursday, December 31st, 2020 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born January 5, 1936 to Robert Henry & Nettie Laney Thompson. He was a dedicated member and deacon of Blair Congregational Methodist Church. He was a poultry farmer for many years. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Fannell and sister, Wanda Marsh.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Thompson; sons, Rickey (Peggy) Thompson, Robert Thompson, Michael (Jennifer) Thompson, Mitchell Thompson; daughters, Carol Thompson, Cheryle (Roger) Terry, Donna (Tim) Kelly; brother, Ivan (Sue) Thompson; grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Kelly, Erica (Aaron) Sweatt, Kristi (Daniel) Williams, Richard (Angel) Thompson, Elizabeth Thompson, Jessica (Jason) Hurt, Cody (Blair) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Kylee Thompson, Jack Kelly, Colt Kelly, Audrey Kelly, Cooper Hurt, Harleigh Thompson; nieces, Sandy. Selina,Sharla; family and friends.
