December 6, 2025 was the day Herlon Maxine Johnson Moore, 100, got her fondest wish, which was to see Jesus face to face. Her life was a testimony of her faith in the Lord, her love for her family and also her many friends. She was a member of Old Bethel Church where she was a faithful attendee while her health permitted.
Herlon was born February 18, 1925 in Prentiss County Mississippi to the late Tommy and Ollie Boggs Johnson. On September 12, 1943, she married the love of her life, William Eugene (Gene) Moore. They were married 64 years before Gene’s death in 2008. She worked at Bluebell, Winfield MFG, and the cafeteria at Belmont Schools. She loved beautiful flowers and watching the birds at her birdfeeder.
Their family of two soon became a family of four with addition of a son, Freddie Eugene Moore (Melinda) and a daughter, Barbara Ann Cleveland (Donald). As the years passed nine grandchildren were added to the family, Tina Gray (Jeff), Tracy Pharr, Michael Moore, Dan Cleveland (Christi), Brad Cleveland (Mallory), Andrew Cleveland (Makita), Faith Patterson (Ben) and Jeremy and Dustin Hastings. Also added were twenty great-grandchildren, Makenzie Ballard (Patrick), Ryan Gray (Emily), Amber Thorn (Nick), Will Pharr (Sydney), Landon, Cameron, Briffon (Caitlin) and Eryn Moore, Jacqueline Hastings, Casen, Mattox and Rowan Cleveland, Braxton, Makenley, Baker and Brady Maddon Cleveland, Nora-Kate Cleveland, Mason (Emily), Piper and Arlee Beth Patterson and five great-great-grandchildren, Karter Thorn, Presley Pharr, Ellie Gray, Aiden and Oliver Patterson. The eldest of a very loving and close-knit family, Herlon will be missed by her siblings, Ouida McCarter Reeves, Willodean Patrick, Geritta Boren (R.D.Jr) and James Thomas Johnson (Jane). She also has many nieces and nephews who love and adore her.
Special thanks to caregivers, Diane Thorton and Sheila Linhoss for their love, compassion and care providing comfort to Herlon and her family.
