Henry Wilson “Bill” Carson, 73, of Decatur passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born March 16, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Lynn Evans Carson Sr. and Elsie Miller Carson.
Mr. Carson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business at Southeastern Louisiana University and a Teacher Certification from Francis Marion University. He spent many years as a Claims Manager in the insurance industry and as a Middle School Teacher. He also served in the Army Reserves. He was member of Parkview Baptist Church and was an ordained Deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Lynn Evans Carson Jr. and brother-in-law, Charles William Quick.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Quick Carson; his daughters, Kelly Elizabeth Carson of Decatur, Kristin Carson Mansell (Tony) of Danville; two grandsons, Will and Evan Mansell; and two stepgranddaughters, Brittany and Payton Mansell; one sister, Thelma Carson Kern (Clint) of Mandeville, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Elaine Quick Farley and Janice Smith Carson; and a host of beloved family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Bill was a man of great faith who desired for all to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
