henryHenry Webster (Webb) Childress, 81, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord on July 14, 2016, at his residence.

He was born April 26, 1935, in Lawrence County, Alabama to William Comer Childress and Velma Mae Randolph Childress.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S. Philippines Sea from 1954-1957.

He graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois in 1962.

He began his career with 3M in Bedford Park, Illinois and retired with 3M Company in Decatur, Alabama with 33 years of service.

He was a member of Donald Baptist Church for 47 years and a deacon 41 years. He also served as Sunday school director, teacher, song leader, and sssistant

song leader.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Comer and Velma Mae Childress; two brothers, Bobby Ray Childress and J.W. Childress; and three sisters, Louise Childress, Earon Childress, and Patricia McCollouch.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra Norton Childress; two sons, Michael Childress and David Webster Childress (Jerrilynn); one grandson, Garrett Childress and wife, Ashley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bryant and Shirley Norton, Roger and Linda Norton, and Sue Mardis; two special daughters, Frances Holden (Wally) and Kathy Smith (Mike); and one special son, Kenny J. Posey; and brother and sister in the Lord, Brother Gene and Juanita Franks.

Pallearers are Jason Childress, Chris Childress, Zac Childress, Brian Childress, Kenny Mardis, Robbie Campbell, Vaughn Goodwin, and Tyler Bylow.

Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Donald Baptist Church Jackie Williams, Ronnie Manley, Billy Joe Borden, and Ervin Nichols.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Donald Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. with burial following at Providence Cemetery.

In lieu in flowers, make donations to Donald Baptist Church, 3037 Co. Rd. 143, Town Creek, AL 35672.
