Henry (Sonny) Leon McMullin, 83, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, May, 14th, 2026, at his residence. He was born January 15th, 1943, in Montepelier, Mississippi, to Joe and Sara (Millsaps) McMullin.
Mr. McMullin is survived by his wife, Dianne McMullin; daughters, Tia Perkins (Jimmy), Cari Barron, Sherri Sides (Joey); son, Terry McMullin (Sherry); ten grandchildren, Kayla Huffman Gilmer (Sam), Paxton Peay (Keegan), Cole McMullin (Samantha), Joe Riley McMullin (Karley), Jovi McMullin, Elijah Barron, Analece Barron, Jonathon Craig (Kayleigh), Sara Craig Martin (Andrew), and Gavin Sides (Brilee); ten great-grandchildren, Lynleigh Gilmer, Seger Gilmer, Maisy Craig, Raelynn Craig, Shep McMullin, Beau McMullin, Chris White, Kylie White, Karleigh White, and Owen Duke; a host of nieces and nephews; and brother and sisters-in-law who were close family, Phil and Teresa Norton, Joan Carruth, Mona and Rowdy Davidson, and Keith and Kelly Norton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sarah McMullin; and brother, Carley McMullin.
Everyone that knew him loved his sense of humor and his love of music. He was always laughing, cutting up, and putting on a show. A real showman! He loved singing and performing, but he especially loved that his kids and grandkids continued his legacy and love of music. The songs and show will go on without him, and that made his heart very full. But even greater than that was knowing he’d see us all in Heaven with him and Jesus one day.
Visitation for Mr. McMullins will be Saturday, May 23, 2026 ay 12pm with funeral to follow at Sardis Springs Baptist Church.
