Elder Rogers entered eternal rest on October 20, 2023, surrounded by family and medical personnel. He was preceded in death by his son, Henry Lee Rogers, Jr., and brothers Melvin Rogers, Jr., Clayton Rogers, and Herman Rogers.

Elder Rogers accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope CPCA under the leadership of Rev. Pearl Dancy. He was a dedicated Elder and member of the New Hope Male Chorus and Sanctuary Choir. He also served on the church’s Tech Team. One of his favorite sayings was “I Am Doing my Church Duty”.

He was a graduate of Trinity High School and an employee of AMOCO Chemical Plant and Champion Paper Company. Henry’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to hard work, passion for automobiles and love for music. He was a skilled mechanic and owned a wrecker service. His dedication to the automotive industry was evident in the quality of work and his willingness to help those in need. He loved racing cars in his early years.

Henry could often be seen traveling with his brothers as one of the lead singers of the “Rogers Brothers.”  He did not mind telling it like it is. Henry had so much wisdom and shared it with anyone he encountered. When he talked, people listened. He always said it’s not about him but about the other person.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving son: Vinson Rogers (Stephanie); four brothers: David Rogers (Mary), Otis Rogers, Norman Rogers, Sr., (Valerie), and Calvin Rogers, Sr., (Sarah); five sisters: Elder Lela Parham, Maevene Rogers, Cora Hobbs (Deacon Moses), Catherine Townsend (Henry), and Rose Nance. His legacy extends to his seven grandchildren: Demarco Rogers, Taylor Rogers, LaVinson Rogers (Breanna), Trajan Rogers, Camron Rogers, Brea Rogers, and Mari Roger; three great-grandchildren: Trenton Rogers, Demarco LaShawn, Jr., and Dayton LaShawn Rogers; one sister-in-law: Gladys Rogers; and a host of   nieces, nephews, and close friends who will fondly remember him.
