Henry ‘Hoyt’ Bowen, of Scottsboro, Alabama, was born September 19th, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan. On January 20th, 2024, he left on his final fishing trip. He left his friends, his neighbors, and his family much too soon and will be sorely missed, especially by everyone at Liberty Restaurant, and Jack. His accounting advice, his fishing stories, and his fishing tours are legend.

Predeceased by his parents, Ruble Bowen and Julia Ray Bowen, née Dabbs, his wife, Mary Frances Bowen, née Robison, a son, Mark Allen Bowen, his grandson Michael Allen Bowen, a sister Peggy Joyce Moore, a nephew, Scott Moore, and his son-in-law, Dan Dennis.

He is survived by his brother, Norman Bowen, sister-in-law, Annette Bowen, née Minor, nephews Russel and Wesley Bowen, their wives and children; daughter, Angela Dennis, grandson Josh Dennis wife Kelsey Dennis, née Keyes, and great granddaughters Elizabeth and Sydney. Granddaughter Brandy Martin, husband Chuck Martin and great granddaughter Natasha; Grandson Matt and great grandson Cash; son Michael A Bowen, daughter-in-law Rebecca Bowen, née Burrows, granddaughters Mary Bowen and Madalyn Blake, husband Chris Blake, and great granddaughter, Evelyn Blake; daughter-in-law Debra Bowen, née Butler, grandsons Chad Moore, wife Niki Moore, née Thornton, great grandchildren Hayden, Sawyer Jane, and Eva Jean; Lance Moore, wife Elizabeth Moore, née James, and great grandsons Landon and Jackson; unofficial daughter Susan Gentle, and numerous unofficial grand and great-grandchildren.

Tax season, for so many, will never be the same.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
