Henrietta Lartheridge Batie Henrietta Batie was born December 3, 1924 in Verona Mississippi to Willis and Irene-Davis Lartheridge. She was the youngest girl of the 5 siblings; Alma, Wille James, Dorothy and Leroy.

Henrietta attended school at Palmetto School and Lee County Training School. She joined Palmetto CME church at an early age and remained a devoted member. Henrietta married Thomas Dunbar and the union produced one son, James Oliver Dunbar.

Henretta’s mother taught her how to sew when she was a young girl, and it became her passion in life. She was more than a seamstress, she was a designer making clothes like men’s suits without a pattern. She loved people and was know for her love of making clothes.

Her memory will be cherished by her surviving sister Dorothy Cox from Chicago, Illinois; her grandson James Oliver Dunbar Jr., host of nieces Anna, Lasandra and nephews Victor and countless other relatives and friends.
