Helen Marie Massey née Dunn of Curry, Alabama passed away December 2, 2025 at the age of 97. Helen was the loving wife of Erskine Allan Massey who preceded her in death in 2013.
Graveside services will be Friday, December 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Memory Gardens.
Helen’s passions were her family and her faith. The Massey house was a beloved gathering place, and she enjoyed having folks come visit. She was famous for her skills in the kitchen and hosted many family feasts. She also enjoyed traveling with Erskine, from road tripping across the United States to trips abroad to Europe and Japan, as well as eighteen months living in Senegal, West Africa. For more than fifty years Helen was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Curry where she once taught Sunday School. Her experiences and values made her a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Helen is survived by sons Allan (Sandra) Massey and Doug (Denise) Massey, daughters Laura (John) Summer and Julia (Bill) Yates, granddaughter Kristen (Phil) Hamilton, grandsons Matt Massey and Michael (Donna) Dobbs, great grandson Harris Dobbs, brother Jim (Marilyn) Dunn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or a charity of your choice.
