Helen Louise Thompson, 80, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015, at her home. She was born May 27, 1935, in Fulton to Shelly and Sula Palmer Umfress and was reared by Lola Enlow. On March 25, 1950, she married the love of her life, William “Bud” Thompson. She was a life-long manufacturer.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Hollis Boyd and Bro. Jerry Grammer officiating. Burial will be in the Keyes Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Bud Thompson; six children, Doris (Johnny) Gregory, Jerry “Red” (Cindy) Thompson, Buddy (Sandy) Thompson, Donnie Thompson, Deborah Vanstory, and Joey (Marla “Sissy”) Thompson; four siblings, Keith (Vera) Umfress, Don (Patricia) Umfress, JoAnn (William) Powell, and Peggy Hargett (Lavon); nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Lola Enlow; two brothers, Cecil Umfress and James Enlow; one sister, Lottie Dennis; one son, Tommy Thompson; one daughter-in-law, Judy Thompson; one son-in-law, Robert Vanstory; and two best friends, Floy Christian and Syble Smith.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Lindsey, Danny Sheffield, Jim Brown, D.R. Thompson, Danny Rock, Michael McMillen, and Rhyne Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Christian and Martin Sheffield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the funeral home.
