Helen Keller Hospital Announces New Vice President of Medical Affairs

Dr. Jack M. McLendon Jr.

SHEFFIELD-Dr. Jack M. McLendon Jr. has been named Helen Keller Hospital Vice President of Medical Affairs.  “We are delighted to have Dr. McLendon join our leadership team.  He brings a vast array of experience, clinical skillfulness and guidance as we continue to grow as the healthcare leaders in this community. His passion for patients, commitment to do what’s right, intuition to bring people together to build a successful healthcare enterprise speaks for itself.” said Kyle Buchanan, Helen Keller Hospital President.

 

Dr. McLendon was born and raised in Sheffield and received his undergraduate degree from the

University of North Alabama.  Dr. McLendon attended medical school at the University of South Alabama, completed his internal medicine residency at Caraway Methodist in Birmingham, AL and remains board certified in internal medicine.

 

Dr. McLendon joined the Helen Keller Hospital medical staff in 1986 and has held many leadership positions including Chief of Staff.  He continues to serve on many medical committees and advisory positions within the hospital.  He has also been involved in numerous quality improvement initiatives over the years.  “I am excited about the opportunity to continue to improve healthcare in the Shoals area.  Dr. Larry Carmichael did an excellent job in directing quality initiatives at the hospital.  I have been involved with his work as well as that of Dr. Bill Meckes in the VPMA role.  My aim is to add to their valued contributions, engage the entire Shoals area medical community and help move Shoals area healthcare forward.” said Dr. McLendon.
