Helen Juanita Geckles age 88 of Claysville passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016. She was the wife of the late Johnny H. Geckles and the daughter of Walter and Nora Weaver Peace. Helen was a resident of the Claysville Community most of her adult life and was a member of the Claysville Holiness Church and was the last surviving member of the original church, before the church was built they would hold meetings in their home. She raised 7 children and also kept several foster children in her home over the years. Helen loved quilting and going to yard sales before her health got bad. After the passing of her husband she worked at Barfield Nursing Home for several years, she had also been a resident of Barfield for almost 2 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Vandiver of Guntersville, sons Johnny Geckles Jr. (Gail) of Grant, Jackie Geckles of Grant and Milton Geckles of Guntersville. Brother, Walter Peace Jr. (Sarah), 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny H. Geckles, two daughters Wanda Fae Magum and Helen Jeanette Eads and a son, Jimmy David Geckles. Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 2016 beginning at 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville, Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 15th at 1:00 pm at the Claysville Free Holiness Church in Claysville, brother Jessie Tipton will officiated. Burial will be at Preston Cemetery in Marshall County. Carr Funeral Directing.
