Mrs. Helen Jean Holland, 94, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019, while at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born February 20, 1926 to Wallace Houston and Grace Payne Houston. Helen loved children and served as a second mother to hundreds over the 26 years she was owner/operator of Holland’s Child Nursery on Erin St. in Tupelo. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Tupelo and often attended her preacher son’s churches over the years especially Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church where her membership was at her death. A lover of gospel singing, Helen had a joyful and jovial personality and enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends. .
A service celebrating her life will be held at 4 PM Today (Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her nephew, Steve Holland delivering the eulogy and her son, Bro. Bob Holland, bringing the Gospel message. Private burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 PM-service time today only.
Helen is survived by her son; Bro. Bobby Holland and wife, Linda of Birmingham Ridge; a daughter in law; Barbara Holland of Tupelo; 4 grandchildren; Patty Blissard, Brandi Brisbine, Kim Raines and Sheron Wingo. 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A step-daughter Tina Floyd and her son, Russ of Tupelo. numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends everywhere. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Holland who died in 2001, her second husband, Julian Holland who died in 2014, her son, Bro. Danny Holland who died in 2003, two brothers, Curtis Houston and John Herman Houston and a great-grandchild, Sean Michael Holland
