Mrs. Rowe died on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Summerford Nursing Home.  She was born  April 21, 1924, in Morgan County to Thomas A. Gandy and Cornice Marie Thompson.  Helen grew up on a farm in the Cold Springs community. In her early years, Helen walked to school at Gandy Cove Church, and later attended Falkville High School where she graduated. On May  12, 1945 Helen married John Rowe and moved to the Piney Grove community. Together, they bought a farm and worked it for many years. Helen loved growing flowers and cooking meals for her family. She was famous for her coconut cakes and lemon ice box pies. She loved visitors, and if you were at her home around noon, you were not only invited, but expected to eat dinner with the Rowes. Helen was a member of Piney Grove Church, where she was very active until her later years. She loved her church family and enjoyed their many visits over the past years. Closest to her heart, was her family, whom she dearly loved. In lieu of flowers make memorials to the Carpenters Cabinet in Falkville, Al.
