Helen Elizabeth Judy Czachurski, 92, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 24, 1924, and graduated from Woodlawn High School and Howard College (now Samford University). She was baptized and married at Ruhama Baptist Church (Birmingham). She enjoyed working with children in her churches for 50 years, and served as an Alabama Baptist State Convention Special Children’s Worker for over 35 years. She taught sixth grade in the Huntsville public schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester R. Judy Sr. and Elizabeth Kennon Judy. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, David L. Czachurski; daughter, Judy C. Stephenson (Rae); son, John David Czachurski (Anita); five grandchildren, Elizabeth S. Johnston (Eric), Rebecca S. Norton (James), Barbara M. Saunders (John), Adam P. Czachurski, and Anna C. McDermott (Mike); great-grandson, John R. “Jack” Saunders IV; brother, Lester R. Judy Jr. (Virginia); and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7 at Whitesburg Baptist South Campus. The funeral will follow at 2 at the church with Dr. Jimmy Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
