Survivors include her loving husband Colonel W. Howard Gibson, Member of United States Military for 37.5 years, Daughter: Kim Gibson, Priceville, Grandsons: Patrick Kelley (Mandy), Houston, Texas and Matthew Canup (Kyla), Jacksonville, Fl, one great grandson: Tyler Kelley, two great-granddaughters: Paige Kelley and DJ Canup, one brother: Joe Caver, Falkville, one aunt: Ruby Grant Howard, Decatur, one Uncle: Dale Weever, Decatur and many other relatives and close friends.

Preceded in death by her son, Patrick Howard Gibson, Father, Murph Caver, Mother, Tressie Grant Caver, Sister, Fay Caver, Brother, John Caver, and many aunts and uncles.

Mrs. Gibson was a loving wife, celebrating her sixty-fifth wedding anniversary, a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared more about her family and close friends than anything else. She was great with children especially with her great-grandchildren. She loved to make them laugh, teach them new things and talk to them about all of the things going on in their life. She was selfless, always the care-taker, the one you go to for advice, the glue that held everything together and the general- who was stern, when needed. She was the matriarch of the family.

Mrs. Gibson volunteered while her husband was in the military for the American Red Cross, counseled enlisted and officer’s wives on base, led a group of base volunteers to welcome the Vietnamese when they made their first stop in the U.S. at Little Rock AFB after the Vietnam war ended and managed on base thrift shops.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Kelley, Patrick Caver, Jason Caver, Joel Caver, Charles Williams, Lavon Gibson and Wayne Howard.
