Heather Marie Barker, 36, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2026. Born and raised in Huntsville, Heather was a free spirit with a big heart, a contagious laugh, and a smile that could light up any room.

Heather loved art, music, color, flowers, the beach, and anything that let her create. She was happy with a paintbrush in her hand, and even happier when she was surrounded by the people she loved. Some of her most treasured moments were spent riding motorcycles with Drew. She loved wind in her hair. To her, it felt like freedom.

Family was everything to Heather. She shared a deep bond with her mom, dad, brother and sister, whom she loved with her whole heart. She often called them her very best friends.

She had a truly special relationship with Darian, Leigha and Olivia. You’d find her leading dance parties in the living room, doing flips in the yard, or pulling them into her latest creative project: painting, tie-dyeing shirts, drawing, or crafting. She made sure they always knew how loved they were.

Heather carried a gentle heart and a deep desire to make the world a better place. She was kind to everyone she met and always looked for ways to spread light and love. Though she faced quiet battles of her own, she never stopped looking out for others. Even on her hardest days, she wanted to do the right thing and lift up the people around her. That was who she was.

Heather was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Hudson Wicks Sr. She is survived by her mother, Debbie Wicks; her brother, Thomas Wicks Jr.; her sister, Natalie Wicks; Darian, Leigha and Olivia, who adored their aunt; her loving boyfriend, Drew Smith; her beloved dog, Layla; her uncles, Hugh Wicks (Elizabeth Anne) and Jim Wicks; her cousins, Jo Beth Williford, Anna Berry, Bradley and Tally Branham; and more friends than could ever be listed, all of whom will miss her deeply.

In Heather’s honor, if you know someone who could use an extra smile, a hug, or a kind word, don’t wait. You never know how much they may need it.

Arrangements for celebration of life will be announced as soon as they are made.
