Hazel Wanda McAfee Cox – Obituary

Hazel Wanda McAfee Cox age 89 passed away Monday morning March 21, 2016 at her home.

She was born February 19, 1927 in Hamburg, TN and grew up at Counce, the daughter of the late Fred Douglas and Ella Counce McAfee. She attended Chester County Schools and married Gordon Cox in 1945. They made their home in the Wilson School Community all their married life where Mr. Cox farmed and logged. Mr. Cox died in 2005. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

She enjoyed raising her family and loved working in her yard and raising flowers. She was very creative in arts and crafts.

Mrs. Cox is survived by five sons, Norman Cox and wife Ann, Roy Mac Cox and wife Judy, Joe Neal Cox and wife Jean all of Henderson, Dennis Cox and wife Jan of Pinson and Darryl Cox of Humboldt and three daughters, Mahlia Russell and husband, Sonny of Henderson, Judy Daniel and husband Tim of Humboldt and Dee Etta Shires of Pinson; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren and one brother, Ralph McAfee of Port Tobacco, MD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gordon Cox in 2005, one grandson, Jason Cox, two brothers, Clarence McAfee and Bert McAfee and four sisters, Fern South, Fredna Miller, Ruth Johnson and Leah Cox.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday March 22, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with remarks by, Wade Cox and Traci Mullins.
