Mrs. Taylor died on Friday, September 2, 2022 at her home. She was born on August 11, 1930 in Morgan County to David and Lizzie Summerford.
Mrs. Taylor was a loving Mother to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was lovingly given the nickname of “Nanny Who” by her first grandson. She was one of a family of 11 siblings. Her work ethic was beyond reproach. She set an example that anyone should strive to achieve. When she was 16 years old, her father was injured while cutting logs. Having no other income to support the family, she dropped out of school and went to work at Goodyear Mill and remained there for several years. Later she became a hair stylist and owned and operated Hazel’s Beauty Shop. When she decided to persue other opportunities, she was employed at 3M and worked there until she retired. In her spare time she used her talent as an excellent seamstress, crocheting, quilting and cross stitching. She was a member of East Highland Baptist Church.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, son Johnny, his wife, Carol and son. Christopher, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors are her husband of 67 years, Carl Taylor, one son, Bobby Taylor (Terri), one daughter, Kathy Irwin (Michael), 5 grandchildren, Tim Ward (Anabeth), Brad Irwin (Kaila), Michelle Kelso (Phillip), Matt Taylor (Christi), and Amber Lyons (Sean) and 7 great grandchildren, Taylor Ward, Adelyn Ward, Kaiden Irwin, Emalee Irwin, Jordan Kelso, Carter Kelso and Johnny Taylor, and one sister, Nell Shaneyfelt (Luel), numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Kelso, Brad Irwin, Tim Ward, Taylor Ward, Matt Taylor, and Anthony Shaneyfelt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kaiden Irwin, Jordan Kelso, and Carter Kelso.
