Hazel Montgomery, 101, of Athens, passed away on Friday, June 12th, 2026. She was born on October 10th, 1924, in Hazel Green, AL, to Grover and Myrtle (Kirby) Norman.
Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her children, James Richard Montgomery, Linda Benko, Jessie Montgomery, and Juanita Kljajich Stryzinski; grandchildren, Melissa Ryan, James Cris Montgomery, Michael Montgomery, John Montgomery, Jennifer Kljajish, Juliana Grove, Levi Montgomery, Tia Montgomery, and Pricila McClendon; and many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Montgomery; parents, Grover and Myrtle Norman; and sisters, Ruby, Jean, Mary Francis, and Inez; children, Jeffrey Randal Montgomery and John Ray Montgomery; and grandchild, Raymond Gregory Flanagin.
The graveside service for Mrs. Montgomery will be Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Taylor Cemetery, in New Market, at 9:00 am, with Donald Terry officiating.
