Hazel Imogene Childers Stinson – Obituary

The Celebration of Life Service for Hazel Imogene Childers Stinson, 86, will be Monday, July 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2017 from 12-1 p.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stinson died Friday, July 21, 2017 in Eva, Alabama. She was born February 15, 1931, in Morgan County to John Grady Childers and Oma Ester Nelson Childers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Boyd, her daughter Rebecca, four brothers, and four sisters.

Mrs. Stinson taught herself to sew and spent many years working as a seamstress at Castner Knott in Decatur, AL. She made countless pageant dresses, costumes, aprons, and anything else her kids and grandkids could imagine. She was an expert biscuit maker. Throughout her life, her hobbies included reading her Bible, watching game shows, and playing Rook at the Eva Senior Citizens Center. She was most proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her two daughters: Kathy Holmes (Steve) and Teresa Runge (Bruce); grandchildren: Brian Wright (Heather), Liana Holmes, Dustin Holmes (Georgia), Brooke Robinson, David Runge (Megan), and Leah Waldrop (Kyle); and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.
