Hazel Bell Faulkner, 85, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016. She was born July 13, 1931, in Lawrence County, Alabama to William E. Bell and Susan Kirby Bell. She spent her childhood there then her family moved to the Shoals in 1947, and then she graduated from Central High School in 1949. She met the love of her life, William Clifford Faulkner, at church, and they married in 1950. Hazel and Clifford were life-long members of Pisgah United Methodist Church.
She was a stay-at-home mom that raised six children. After her children were grown she doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had candy and treats at the ready when they came to visit.
In her later years, even though she had many health problems, she was always there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clifford Faulkner; daughter, Teresa Churchwell; and grandson, Scotty Faulkner.
She is survived by her sister, Sovola Winborn (the late Charles Winborn); sons, Stanley Faulkner (Trudy) and Phillip Faulkner (Linda); daughters, Janet Faulkner, Marsha Bradford (Robert Oliver), and Gina O’Kelley (the late Jim O’Kelley); ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Linda Schafer (Charlie).
Visitation was 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Florence. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Pisgah United Methodist Church, Florence, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour before services.
Pallbearers will be Devin Bradford, Phillip Peters, Jonathan Peters, Dewayne Walker, Damon Williford, and Tyler Williford.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Shoals for taking such good care of our mom. Also, we extend a special thank you to Spry-Williams for their kindness and for making our family feel like a part of their family.
