Hazel Audrey O’Kelley, age 84, of Phil Campbell, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Hazel worked at Kelwood for many years. She loved to sew, pick blackberries, and spend time with her family. When she had the TV remote, you could guarantee she was watching (and maybe shopping) QVC and wrestling. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family very much. We will cherish the many memories she has left behind.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Patsy Slatton (Randy), Hershel O’Kelley (Sherry), Joyce Yealock (Ronnie); daughter-in-law, Venus O’Kelley; grandchildren, Ronnie O’Kelley, Stacy Mills, Jessica Kirby (Zac), Derek Slatton, Crystil O’Kelley, Carrie Burleson (Chris), Zack Slatton (Abby), Brandy Baker, Shane Baker, Heather Aldridge; great-grandchildren, Dylan West (Carly), Dawson O’Kelley (Kaitlyn), Caitlynn Mills (Gage), Skylar Mitchell, Leon Motes, Claire Hulsey, Caden Slatton; great-great-grandchild, Zaidynn Pugh; and a host of nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Huston J.R. O’Kelley; son, Jimmy Wayne O’Kelley; great-granddaughter, Celia Trapp; parents, Zackie and Lorene (Prince) Winstead; six brothers, Alford, Delano, Melvin, Chub, David, Doug; and three sisters, Ann, Mazel, and Velma.
The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Spry Memorial Chapel. After a procession to the church, the funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. at Blue Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Woodrow Taylor officiating the service. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Dylan West, Dawson O’Kelley, Zack Slatton, Derek Slatton, Ronnie O’Kelley, and Skylar Mitchell. The honorary pallbearers will be Caden Slatton and Robin Winstead.
The family would like to extend a sincere heartfelt thanks to Dr. Morrow for his continuous care. Also we want to thank the nurses and staff of our Home Health and to Southern Care Hospice.
