Mr. Hayden Hodges Collins, Sr. age 93, of Scottsboro, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Highlands Health and Rehab Center in Scottsboro.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Gamble officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Collins is survived by his children, son Hayden H. Collins Jr. & wife Phyllis Eakin Collins of Scottsboro and daughter Shelah Collins Burson of Huntsville; daughter-in-law Sheilah Parrish Collins of Scottsboro; grandchildren Haylea Collins Cooper of Scottsboro, Heather Collins Smith & husband Shane Smith of Bridgeport, Anna Collins Rogers & husband Beau Rogers of Scottsboro, John Burson of Huntsville and David Burson of Huntsville; great-grandchildren Josh Keel of Scottsboro, Baylen Cooper of Scottsboro, Reese & Rhett Smith of Bridgeport and Collin, Anna Claire & Caty Rogers of Scottsboro; several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Mr. Collins was a Christian family man originally from the Langston area. He was married to the late Mary Eva Proctor Collins of Scottsboro for 71 years when she passed. Mr. Collins was a World War II Veteran in the US Army. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Scottsboro. He had retired from Smith Chevrolet in Stevenson as a car salesman and he sold insurance for many years.
He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Eva Collins of Scottsboro; son, Eddie Collins of Scottsboro; brother, Wayne Collins of Scottsboro; sister, Irene Simpson of Scottsboro; parents, Charlie & Anna Collins of Scottsboro; brother, Clarence “Cotton” Ray Collins of Scottsboro.
The family would like to thank Kesha Whitten of Rainsville, ABC Hospice of Rainsville and Highlands Health & Rehab Center of Scottsboro for his care.
