Hattie Bell Russell Stewart, age 98 of Huntland, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at The Bridge in Monteagle. She was born on July 26, 1919 to the late John May and Lillian (Hampton) Russell. Hattie and her late husband Alf owned and operated the general store in Skyline, Alabama. While living in Alabama, Hattie enjoyed singing in the church choir, where she was the lead soprano. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, playing card games (especially Rook), sewing, and playing the piano. Her family will remember her for always being the “life of the party,” and for her ability to make others smile. Hattie was a member of New Covenant Church in Huntland. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Alfred Stewart; daughter, Linda Lusk; and siblings, George Russell, Elsie Mae Dotson, Lincoln Russell, Mary Lou Doran, Noah D. Russell, Ozzie Sims, Vollie Scivally, Sylvia Russell, Clyde Russell, Ima Jean Scivally, J.B. Russell, and Clara Stratton. Hattie is survived by her daughter, Freida Headrick of Monteagle; grandchildren, Jessica Cunningham of Florida, Ginger Headrick of Murfreesboro, Jonathan Headrick of Murfreesboro, Andy (Roberta) Lusk of Cleveland, Alfred Don Lusk of Cleveland, and Shawn (Cindy) Lusk of Soddy Daisy; great-grandchildren, Natasha Lusk Henry, Ariel Lusk McFadden, Ary Collado, Zach Taylor, and Alec, Blake, and Tyler Lusk; and brother, Gilbert Russell of Illinois. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Linda Davis officiating.
