Harry Delano Smith, age 69, of Killen, passed away Wednesday,
December 6, 2023. Visitation will be Saturday, December 9th from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 1:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with Brother Randy Hargett officiating. Entombment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be D.J Hall, Glen Jones, Hal Gist, Chuck Lindsey, Bubba Stockton, and Bill Hubbell. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Grigsby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius E. and Nadine O. Smith; granddaughter, Elizabeth Glory Savage.

Survivors are his son, Benjamin Delano Smith (Angela) and Rebekah Joy Savage (Thomas); sisters, Linda Jane Grigsby and Rebecca Suzanne Stockton; grandchildren, Hannah Joy Savage, Mary Hope Savage, John Valor Savage, Tucker Jordan Smith, Tanner James Smith, and Taylor Marie Smith.

Harry was a member of Mission of Mercy Shoals and was involved in various addiction recovery groups including ministries of Cross Point Church of Christ and Grace House Ministries. He received the Keller Key (highest academic award) at UNA in 1975 and was a high school principal from 1989 to 2002. He was instrumental in Muscle Shoals High School receiving honors for Blue Ribbon School in 1991, America’s Best Schools (Red Book) in 1996, and chosen as Alabama’s Best Administrator of the year in 1997.
